San Joaquin County Superior Court Celebrates 27th Annual Adoption Day
Stockton, CA — On Saturday, November 21, 2026, the San Joaquin Superior Court, will host its 27th Annual Adoption Day in partnership with the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency and local adoption and foster care agencies.
This year’s celebration will bring together families, court staff, judicial officers, child advocates, and community partners to celebrate and finalize the adoptions of 38 children by 28 families.
Participating partner agencies include Project Linus Wayfinder, Family Extension Foster Care & Adoption Family Services, Aspiranet and Koinonia.
The event will be presided over by Judge Michael Mulvihill and Judge Gurjit Srai. Judge Mulvihill will open the celebration with welcoming remarks to families and guests.
Reflecting on the significance of Adoption Day, Judge Mulvihill said:
“National Adoption Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the families who have opened their hearts and homes to children and to recognize the children whose lives are forever changed by adoption. On behalf of the San Joaquin County Superior Court, we are honored to be part of these meaningful proceedings and to celebrate this special day with our families.”
Volunteers from the Court and participating agencies will come together to make this special day possible, celebrating the joy of adoption while helping raise awareness about the need for permanent, loving families for children in foster care.
National Adoption Day is celebrated nationwide on the Saturday before Thanksgiving to raise awareness about children and youth in foster care who are waiting for permanent families. For more than two decades, judges, attorneys, court staff, foster care professionals, child advocates, law enforcement personnel, and community partners have joined together on this special day to help finalize adoptions and celebrate families.
