San Joaquin County Superior Court Commissioner Michael Rasmussen Appointed Interim Judge

STOCKTON, Calif. — The San Joaquin County Superior Court is pleased to announce the appointment of Court Commissioner Michael Rasmussen to serve as an interim judge of the San Joaquin County Superior Court.

Rasmussen has served as a Court Commissioner since May 2020, following more than 22 years with the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as a Deputy District Attorney from 1998 to 2020. During his tenure with the District Attorney’s Office, Rasmussen supervised the Homicide and Quality of Life Units.

As a Court Commissioner, Rasmussen has presided over a broad range of matters, including family, juvenile, criminal, traffic, and unlawful detainer cases. His extensive experience across multiple areas of the law has provided a strong foundation for his continued service to the San Joaquin County community.

Rasmussen earned his Juris Doctor degree from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento.

He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Charlotte Orcutt. The Governor’s interim appointment allows Rasmussen to immediately assume the judicial position to which he was elected and is scheduled to begin serving in January 2027.

Presiding Judge Lance Jacot stated, “We are proud to congratulate Judge Rasmussen on this well-deserved appointment. He has served the people of San Joaquin County throughout his career and has been an important member of our Court since 2020. We are pleased that he will continue his service to our community as a Judge of the San Joaquin County Superior Court.”
